Flavor and fun with the fam.

Good morning and happy Friday! I’ve been having a wonderful time with my family so far. Today we are going into the city, which I haven’t done in a long time thanks to a little thing called school. My aunt is also in town for the day so we are all heading out to brunch shortly.

Walker Bros. was as delicious as expected yesterday. Prepare to be amazed by gargantuan proportions! As I said in my earlier post, my mom and I typically split a mini-German pancake (called the Dutch Baby) and an egg white oven-baked omelette. They start out by bringing us some bananas, strawberries, maple syrup and powdered sugar to put on top of the pancake:

And then it’s on to the main courses. My mom and I split each in half. Here is the pancake:

Um, yes. It’s that huge. But honestly (and I’m sorry I forgot to take a picture to communicate this point!) it’s pretty much completely air. They call it their “lightest pancake treat” because it’s completely hollow on the inside. I ate just over 1/2 of my half portion, with strawberries and bananas 🙂

Now, on to the Santa Fe omelette:

Um, why yes. It is that huge, too. But I’ll say it again – whipped egg whites + oven baked = huge looking omelette that is actually lighter than air. I got the omelette filled with peppers, mushrooms and a bit of cheese. I ate my entire half 🙂

So yes, I was definitely full. But my was it worth it!

That’s all I’ve got time to post for now – I’ll have a complete wrap-up of the rest of our fun tomorrow. I hope everyone has a great Friday – I know I’m looking forward to it and the weekend! 🙂
