Happy Mother’s Day!

There are many incredible “mothers” in my life. Two in particular are brand new mothers (Cara and Lisa, I’m looking at you!) this year. I could not be more excited or happy for them.

And so, for all the fabulous mamas out there:

Happy Mother’s Day!

That said, there is one mother in particular who holds a special place in my heart…

…and not just because we have a shared appreciation for making silly faces. πŸ˜‰

Mama Bender has balanced being a mother and being a friend brilliantly over these past 24 years (as of Monday, May 9 — my birthday!), imparting wisdom and wise cracks every step of the way. I’m proud to call her my mother and even more ecstatic to call her my best friend.

Mother’s Day has always been a special weekend for us. I was born on the second Saturday in May 1987, which meant that I came just in time for her to celebrate (although since I was more than two weeks late, I suppose she may have just been celebrating the fact that I was finally breathing on my own).

It is especially fun when my birthday actually falls on Mother’s Day (like it did last year). It makes me more aware than ever of how lucky I am to have such a wonderful, strong and passionate woman to look up to and admire. I am so grateful for everything my mom has done for me. She is truly one of a kind.

Jill posed an interesting question on her Facebook profile today asking people to share the best advice their mom ever gave them. My mom and I were chatting earlier and although there are many priceless tidbits to choose from, I believe this is my very favorite:

“Take time to dance every day and sing like no one is listening.”

Would you like to see proof? Though our daily (at least we try to make them daily) dances via video chat have never been recorded, we have this image, captured forever, to provide us with instant credibility.

What can I say? I learn from the best. πŸ™‚

Happy Mother’s Day, Mama Bender! I enjoy every moment we are able to spend together and I love you very much!

Sending smiles and happy holiday wishes to you and yours today, too.

Abrazos,
