No, not the Terminator.
For the past week, I’ve been getting in my whole grains courtesy of Arnold bread. I’ve had a long history of product reviews and samples with this company, and I can honestly say that they never fail to impress me. So when Rena offered to send me samples of their new Soft Naturals line, there was no way I was turning her down. I immediately tried out the 100% whole wheat version.
The best part about Arnold is that none of their breads are made with HFCS. I always know I’m getting a quality product, even if it isn’t that fresh-baked loaf you buy from the corner bakery. This new whole wheat bread did not disappoint! For two slices, you get 150 calories, 3g fiber and 7g protein. I’ve been incorporating it into both meals and snacks. My favorite so far has been as an accompaniment to the scrambled eggs + spinach combo I have grown so fond of.
I toasted it up, added a little butter and sprinkled it with some cinnamon. The flavor was great, and the bread was doughy and filling. Served with the eggs and a Morningstar sausage, and you’ve got a “balanced breakfast” that keeps me full all morning long.
I’ve also been having the bread with PB+J sandwiches, as well as the occasional PB snack.
Once again, Arnold has impressed me. I will gladly continue to review their products in the future because I have never been disappointed. Thanks, Rena!

Well, blog world, they say that when the going gets tough, the tough get going. But I say, when the going gets tough, the tough give-up-on-making-fancy-meals-and-stick-to-what’s-easy-and-fast. That’s certainly the case for me – hm, maybe the difference is that I’m not actually that tough š Regardless, I have been eating a lot of the usual these past couple of weeks.
I have continued to fuel my growing obsession with Honey Kix. I have found that my favorite and most filling combination is 1 cup Honey Kix + 1 cup Kashi Go Lean, topped with a banana and 1 tbsp. ground flax. The protein in the Kashi cereal helps keep me going and keeps me from having that empty feeling that can sometimes come when you only eat cereal for breakfast.
I’ve also had my moments where I’ve treated myself, including the occasional Sushi Friday.
If I could eat sushi every day, I probably would. I need to learn how to make my own!
It’s quick + easy, and surprisingly filling given my usual tendency to prefer volume foods.
Tonight, I’m heading out for Uno’s Chicago Deep Dish pizza with some friends. I think it’s the first time in over a year that I’ve had deep dish pizza. It’s been far too long, if you ask me. For “lunch” today, I tried the new Tangomania flavor at Red Mango. They were handing out samples for free! Big thanks to Michelle for the tip on that one š I got mine with blueberries, and it was fabulous! If you have one of these in your area, I highly recommend checking it out!

Alright, kids + kids at heart, I’ve got myself some work to do! See you tomorrow for a P90X recap! I’ve got plenty to say, and I hope it will be informative!
Mmmm, everything looks great! I wish I could find Arnold’s products in Canada!
I think you make Kix look like a fancy snack š
Ain’t nothing wrong with treating yourself to a little sushi š
Enjoy your deep dish pizza night!
Mmmm cinnamon-sugar toast brings back some serious comfort food memories for me. I still have it occasionally when I’m feeling down and it immediately makes me feel better. I think I’ll be needing some this week!
I approve of ALMOST everything in this post except for the fact that you use a fork instead of chopsticks with your sushi! Come on Jenn, if you’re going to do it, do it right ; ) Didn’t you go to China last year….Haha, it’s ok, I still love you.
I love Arnold’s bread!! Have you tried the Arnold Natural 100% Whole Wheat?! Oh my goodness, amazing! I totally forgot to get the honey Kix while I was at the store! Oops!
Have a blast tonight – eat a big hunk of pizza for me š
Arnold’s def has the BEST store bought bread! I never veer from their section at the food store- regardless of how good the sale items are!! Josh can’t live without the Arnold’s thins now!! Enjoy your deep dish pizza!
That bread looks amazing! I’m always hesitant about what goes in mass-produced baked goods like Arnold’s bread, but I’m glad to hear there’s no HFCS. Those commercials about how “it’s just the same as sugar” drive me CRAZY!
Also, mixing cereals is so much fun. I’m a big fan of half healthy/half less healthy to make me feel better about eating cinnamon toast crunch occasionally.
I love your blog!
Seriously I’m in awe of all your samples! I must not be a popular enough blogger to warrant free stuff. Oh well! I’m on the lookout for honey kix, and hooray for sushi Friday! Love ya girl!
Yum, the second I get home I’m making a breakfast with some toast, butter & cinnamon, and an omelette with a sausage patty on the side! That looks like such a fun breakfast!!
And Jenn!! How cute would it be if you and Bobby got a sushi making kit and made some together for a date night….or maybe try and find some type of fun workshop class on it?? So cute! Enjoy the pizza! š
Yeah for Arnold Breads! I love that they don’t have any HFCS!
great review! I need to try their bread soon! š
I need to get on the Honey Kix train… not just for nostalgia’s sake, but you’ve been talking those bad boys up! (And I think you’re pretty damn tough, Jenn š )
hahaha i thought you meant.. our governator.
Yum, the bread sounds great! Thanks for the product review!
I haven’t had Kix in soo long, but two people have blogged about it today alone so I think it’s a sign! Making your own sushi is so easy. You can get a bamboo mat from Amazon for under $5 or visit an Asian grocer and pick one up. It’s really fun to play around with ingredients, too.
I also received the bread and haven’t been able to review it yet. Thanks for the ideas on the possible uses!
And I’m the same way, I repeat my meals when I’m out of time!
deep dish ! yumoooooooo
and i totes agree about the sushi thang. everyday!! (that is…if winter wasn’t a season! I don’t crave it when I am freezing cold!)
love the cereal bowls and pb bread too.
have a great weekend love bird š
The cereal looks delicious!
That Arnold’s bread looks great…I love that you get TWO slices for only 150 calories š
I’m with you…sushi everyday (esp with brown rice!) sounds just fine to me! If only!
Have a lovely weekend, Jenn!
Your food looks great! What kind of camera do you have? I really need to upgrade!
Can’t wait to see about p90x! I’m a Beachbody coach, and am starting ChaLEAN Extreme next week. Then I’m doing the X after, so excited!
That Arnold bread looks yummy. Soft bread is so comforting sometimes!
I could eat veggie sushi anytime too–especially brown rice sushi!
I remember Uno’s Pizza from my childhood vacations in Chicago. Hope you had fun!
I agree that you make those kix look fancier than any lazy bowl of cereal that I have! And thanks for the Arnold’s review I think I’ll try it when I’m done with the loaf that I have now.
Yummm… I love putting butter and cinnamon on my toast = delicious š Hope you are having a great weekend and enjoyed your pizza last night!
How are you girlie!?!? Anything new in the major/internship realm?
I actually think I just bought this bread at Publix, although I don’t think I have tried it yet…I thoroughly annoy my BF when we are grocery shopping b/c he always wants to get the cheapest whole wheat bread while I have to make sure the ingredients look good! This one was both cheap, and had good looking ingredients. Win win!
