Tickled

I’m so excited that you’re excited about the new blog! We couldn’t believe our luck that PursuingOurPassion.com was available but snatched it up while we had the chance since it describes what we hope to accomplish so perfectly. We’ve got some exciting ideas in the works for it, so stay tuned!

Today I have to pay tribute to the Jay Robb fairy who came to visit! This brand is well known around the blogosphere — I believe Heather will attest to that — for its super delicious protein powder and spokesperson, who just happens to bear the same name.

**Warning: Crazy girl wearing rhinestones ahead**

It all started when I tweeted my love for the man with the tight black T-shirt. I received a tweet back from Jay’s PR consultant asking for my email address.

Have I mentioned yet how much I love the power of social media?!

Beth and I got to talking and she offered to send me some samples to try and review for the blog.

I was blown away by this basket of goodies — thanks Beth! But there was one part of the package in particular that caught my eye…

Yes, that’s right friends! I am now the proud owner of a bedazzled Jay Robb tank top. You know that you have achieved brand loyalty when you can make a girl pose like this:

Note: Bobby was whispering “sell out” as I posted these pictures. I disagree — honestly, how could I not pose like this when wearing a bedazzled Jay Robb tank top?

Did I mention it was bedazzled? Clearly, I’m obsessed 🙂

I’m looking forward to trying out the protein powders, too! There are a few new flavors in there that I have never even seen before, so I’ll be sure to post a review when they’re ready!

Moving away from all the glitz and glamah…

Another highlight of my week so far was the chance to meet up with Karla for breakfast at Lou Mitchell’s on Sunday. She’s one of my favorite people and I’m so glad that she is working in Chicago this winter and spring! We both decided to order the buckwheat pancakes with blueberries.

We had such a good time gabbing that we decided to take it outside 🙂 We walked around the city for a while and posed for a picture in front of the Sears Willis Tower. It was a great day!

Love her 🙂

Last but not least, I wanted to share a delicious meal that Bobby and I enjoyed together. This was the ultimate Lazy Chef version of garlic bread together with a shrimp and veggie stir-fry.

The shrimp and veggie stir-fry was easy, as usual. Toss each into a pan on the stove with a little EVOO and cook until tender. We added the Kikkoman Ponzu Lime that I received from the Foodbuzz Tastemaker program for extra flavor. Perfection!

The garlic bread was a trial and error experiment on my part. I combined the following:

  • 2 pieces whole wheat bread
  • 2 tsp. jarred garlic
  • 2 tbsp. Smart Balance
  • 2 oz. shredded Parmesan cheese

Divide all the ingredients evenly among the two pieces of bread. Place in the broiler for 5-7 minutes until the bread and the cheese begin to brown. This was not an exact science — and it wasn’t exactly perfect, either. But it definitely smelled, looked and tasted like garlic bread. I was a fan 🙂

Another quick and easy dinner option for all you fellow Lazy Chefs out there!

Hard to believe tomorrow is Wednesday already. Do you have any midweek fun planned?

Abrazos!

  1. Gah the Big Willy. I’ll never get used to it!

No midweek fun planned, unless fun eats count? Lol.

Tomorrow is kale chips! That’s my Hump Day fun.

  2. Taking my mom to a scroll saw class Thursday. She’s done it before but I’ve never tried it.

  6. HAHAH! You always make me laugh and yes, that shirt is definitely bedazzled 🙂

Oh and those engagement photos are gorgeous! You both look so happy and comfortable!
    Have a great Wednesday!

  8. I gotta remember to tweet about product love more often… i’m LOVING my jay robb lately in pancakes! BUT not as much as I love YOU in that tank 🙂 It will never truly be the Willis tower, or as my students call it “Big Willy”

  9. Those pancakes look delicious! I live right outside Chicago, and every time you post about a restaurant, I think, “I’ll have to try that,” but then never do. That needs to change.

Congratulations on EVERYTHING 🙂 Also, having been a reader of your blog for a while, I think I can safely say that no one deserves that Jay Robb shirt quite as much as you do.

  10. YOU are one of my favorite people my dear, and not just because of how you rock that bedazzled tank top 😀 It was wonderful catching up and I can’t wait to do it again!!

My love for social media grew even more yesterday as the folks at Jason’s Delit discovered my love note of a post I put on my blog this weekend. The people at that company rock!

No big plans for hump day (besides counting down to the weekend! Oscars? Yes please!)

    Have a great day lady!

  11. Bedazzling makes any shirt more amazing!

I love, love, love Lou Mitchell’s! I was in Chicago a few years ago and ate there twice – I wouldn’t care how long the line is, I’ll be back there again!

  12. Jenn you always order the BEST stuff ever!! i can’t wait to meet up with you. 🙂 And yes, social media is amazing!! I’m so glad you benefited from Twittering! hahaha

Last night, I decided it was time to look through your engagement pictures and i LOVED them!!! My bf was totally staring over my shoulder…and finally he was like, “That’s really cool!!” We loved that it was unique and the location was fun, exciting, interesting, and GOSH you and Bobby are just too adorable together!!

  13. I’m obsessed with shrimp and I wish PB was too! He prefers “other” foods! So sad, because I love shrimp dishes!!!!

Let me know what you think of the egg white proteins.. I was not a fan, but I love the chocolate whey.

  14. I just realized you were not in my new Google Reader (from when I switched to my new last name). No WONDER I’ve been missing so many posts! Adding you…, NOW!

  15. “Crazy girl wearing rhinestones ahead” – I don’t think you need to warn me! Haha, I’ve seen a lot of rhinestones in my time! Love the thug pose though – you’d fit right in in D-town 😉

Willis, Smillis, it will always be Sear’s Tower in my mind! What a great brunch date!

  16. How could you not have a photo shoot with the blinged out tank? I mean, come on. It had to be done! I wish they sold the Jay Robb in Canada – I’m always hearing about it, and would like to try it. Alas, it hasn’t made its way North.

  17. Jay Robb is awesome but they need to start shipping to Canada without charging some $70 to do it. Because of how hard it is to get (I don’t always get a chance to swing by a GNC during opening hours when in the States) I’ve had to switch to a supermarket brand in Canada. I would prefer Jay Robb though 🙁
