P90X: 90 Days Later [VIDEO]

Happy Sunday!

Over the past three months, many of you have expressed interest in following me through the P90X Workout program. As promised, I have finally completed a video that recaps my experience. You can also read further information about the workouts I specifically reviewed here: Workouts.

Coming up in the video:

  • The physical parts of the program (what you get in the box)
  • My personal experience with the program (ups and downs)
  • The final recommendation (to buy or not to buy)

I will preface the video by telling you that if there is anything you do not see that you would like to know, you can feel free to ask in the comments or by emailing me at eatingbender@gmail.com. That said, I am not going to post any specific measurements or statistics because of privacy reasons.

Without further ado, feel free to check out the video below!

And there you have it. I apologize if there was a part in the middle that was a little hard to hear. I couldn’t figure out what happened there!

Some other things to note that weren’t in the video:

  • On days where I wasn’t motivated to complete the P90X DVD, I either took the day off completely or found an alternative such as a cardio machine at the gym or a run outside (the runs were very rare in the blisteringly cold Chicago winter!)
  • More on the “winter weight gain” – I mentioned this casually, but just to be clear, as a result of some physical (re: tummy) issues and the changing of the seasons, etc. I did gain a few pounds this winter. One of the reasons I liked P90X so much was that I could still see physical results (in my core and arms specifically) even with all the so-called “joys” that winter brought. I’m also happy to report that through small dietary changes – cutting back on dairy, eating fewer sweets at night, etc. – my tummy has been a lot better lately. I know I haven’t talked about this much (I’ve been working to balance blogging about food with blogging TMI), so I thought I’d provide a little more background information.

I hope that you enjoyed the video. Again, feel free to leave any questions in the comments below.

In the words of Tony Horton…BRING IT!!

  1. I totally love having a little Jenn talking to me from my computer 🙂 Fiance is busy playing a loud game right now, so I can’t really hear your video, so I”ll have to watch the whole thing later. Thanks for doing the review though, and it’s nice to know a “normal” person who’s completed this program as opposed to just crazy body-builder types!

  2. SO cute!! Loved the Kanye in the background and wowie look at those guns 😉 I don’t want to get in a fight with you!

I enjoy when the “background exercisers” actually have done the program as well.

Thanks so much for taking the time to share your experiences. I enjoy intense workouts most of the time and I may have used some of my workout DVDs so much that they are like worn out 🙂 The variety of the 10 DVDs may be just right for me.

Hope you’re enjoying this lovely spring weather–I sure am!

  3. Oh I been dying to ehar how it worked for you I am thinking of buying to program! Thanks for the info I might email you with one or 2 questions later!!!

  4. Very nice! After I finish ChaLEAN Extreme….I’m definitely doing P90X 🙂

The good part about Chalean is that the workouts avg 40 minutes, and it’s 5 days a week (instead of 60 mins/6 days).

  5. Wow! P90x sounds intensssssssse. I might do a dvd or two, but I’d probably never be able to commit for a whole 90 days!!!

loved your review though- you covered everything and were very informative! thanks Jenn!!!

    Enjoy your Chitown sunshineeeeeeeeee!

  6. this was such a great review Jenn! I’m really glad that you liked the program and saw results. I’m thinking about maybe getting it this summer when I go home since I’m going to have so much free time before my job starts. We’ll definitely talk more about it on our phone date later this week. Have a great week!

  7. I loved hearing about your experience with P90-X. From your review it seems like a great program. For some reason I usually can’t get myself motivated to do at home DVDs so I probably wouldn’t invest in the program, but I loved hearing your review!

  8. YAY that video makes me wanna go buy the p90-x! So I’m gonna go look it up right now! Your vid was super awesome and I never know if videos like that actually help the bod, so I’m glad you had such a positive experience with it! Have a wonderful wonderful Sunday!!

  9. Killer video Jenn! I think you were totally honest and credible. Were I in the market for a good butt kicking, I’d know where to go. I’m glad I stuck around to see those guns at the end. I was kind of hoping you’d pull out the one armed pushups, but you gotta save something for next time, I guess.

  10. Seriously awesome video jenn!! haha love the guns, i wanna look like the black guy in P90X..haha whoa buff 😀 I do it with my friend, the yoga is esp hard but really fun. I’m working on my Chi-town visit this summer for sure! xo have a great Sunday girlie

  11. what a great video- so informative! when i get a break from teaching aerobics, i totally want to try it
LOVE the muse song from twilight 😀
and um, do you have a band aid?
    because you are CUUUUUUUUT
    (i couldn’t help it)
    have a wonderful day <3

  12. You are adorable! Loved your review, and I loved how honest you were because honestly? I probably would have to do my own “abridged” version too!

  13. I love the JennTV 🙂 Great review!! Sounds like that video could kick some bootaye (or you could with your guns you’re sporting 😉 )

  14. Loved the recap, thanks so much for sharing! LOL – love the “bring it”, my coworker is burning me the DVDs, and I watched the first on ,and just kept walking around telling Mike to bring it 🙂

  15. Wow! Love your guns!

My boy just started P90X and also has great things to say (three weeks in) but I really love hearing this from a girl because the clips that I’ve seen were a bit intimidating for me, and I figured he could handle it with his military training and all that.

    I’m glad you liked it!

  16. Great video review Jenn! It was great to hear your progress. The abdominal reps definitely sound intense. I think it would be awesome to try! Thanks for the thorough review and I think you balanced TMI with honesty quite well!

And … NICE GUNS! Holy smoke!!!!

  17. Great review Jenn! So timely too – I just did my first (and possibly only) P90X workout yesterday! My bf got the program about a month ago and has been going on and on about how hard it is. We were out of town for a wedding this weekend, he brought them along to do in the hotel room and asked if I wanted to do the plyo workout with him. I said yes and was a little nervous after all the talk about it, but it was great! I was able to make it through the whole thing, so I felt really tough after. 🙂

  18. Loved the review Jenn! Sounds like it was super beneficial, especially for winter when the weather is not conducive to outdoor exercise.

    Yeah muscles! 🙂

  19. Great recap video! I’ve been contemplating purchasing the program for months and you’re making me want it even more! Thanks again for sharing your experience!

    kaneil, balanceisbest

  20. Jen I so needed this reveiw!!! I want to do the P90X DVD but I am broke lol, so when I get the funds for it I think I will have to give it a try 🙂 THANKS AGAIN FOR BEING YOU!

  21. Great review- I love how you were honest about the program and specifically how difficult it is! You’ve def made me start thinking about ordering it!

  22. Thanks for the great video review! And congratulations on finishing the program… it sounds super intense.

  23. I’ll watch this video as soon as I get out of class HA

Where is your internship!? I’m sure you have said this on the blog…..and I’m sure I missed it! LAME. I was going to do one this summer….then I got a nannying job offer and I jumped at it. The money is just soooo good (which I am in dire need of), and that way I can pay for my apartment in the fall and do the internship in the spring/summer? yeaaa, that’s the plan! My bff has an internship in Chi-town and I’ll be coming to visit her!!! I see a blogger meet up in our future:)

  24. Great review of the video system. It’s definitely intense.

    p.s. nice guns!

  25. You are adorable and I loved seeing the video! Thanks so much for the review.

I can definitely relate that 60 minutes is a long time to do a video and I know sometimes it’s just not that easy to fit in! That is something I love about 30 Day Shred… 20-25 mins and it’s over.

  26. Great video!! I loved seeing you “in person”! Too cute 🙂

Brian and I may have to invest in this whole P90x thing soon…

  27. Well, Miss Jenn, thank you for the incredible and thorough review! I always love a little vid from you, too 🙂 I don’t think I could stick to that program, but you’re a stunna for doing it!

  28. Awesome video review Jenn! Very awesome. 90 days, 60 minutes each workout… INTENSE. Holy smokes. I doubt I would be able to stick super strictly to it but it’s seriously something I would love to consider checking out… I definitely want to improve my strength training and this is clearly a no sissies way to do it. I like a good challenge! I’ll definitely be thinking about it for the future. Good job for getting through it! 🙂

  29. Good to see a review, but I think another con (other than long sessions) would be the sheer cost, and the fact that you can’t walk into a store and buy it. At least, that’s a con for me – I’m not really into things I can only get online for some reason. Perhaps I’m old fashioned like that 😉 Obviously though, you’ve seen some great results with it, and should I one day find myself with alot of time and extra cash on my hands, I might consider it.

  30. I’ve never seen the infomercials–only heard of this on the blogs! Your review is helpful and you are just adorable. The program seems very intense and hardcore!! Congrats to you for making such progress with the moves. I don’t know many people who can do pull-ups, anyway 😉

  31. Thanks for all the info on p90X it sounds really interesting!! I’ve been following your blog forEVER now and finally started my own!! If you get a chance please check it out! It’s my boyfriend and my food adventures!!

  32. Thank you for sharing the review in a video format! It’s good to know that a “normal” person can do these moves.

  33. Great review! I have seen the infomercial several times and have always wondered what the program was “really” like… The workouts sound very intense. Great job sticking with the program! 🙂

  34. Jenn,
What a thorough review – thanks so much. Honestly though, I had trouble concentrating after I read your latest post. Again, soooo excited for you and Bobby. Many many congrats.

    P.S. I still can’t do a freaking pull-up either. 🙁

  35. so glad to hear about this jenn!! i think i might try to buy it off amazon or somewhere discounted… i know i know. anyways, you’re adorable, and i love your honesty! i’d probably do similar things to adapt the program for me!

  36. So although I’ve read this post in the past this is the first time I’ve watched the video. I checked it out since I am considering buying P90X.

Thanks for posting – very helpful!!!

AND you mentioned The Shred halfway through. I’m so glad you enjoyed it!!!!!!!! 🙂
