Happy Saturday!
Today is extra happy for many reasons. When I learned that today’s #FebPhotoADay was “makes you happy,” I knew my picture would involve my plans for the afternoon. Ultimately, I found the perfect combination: breakfast mimosas and quality time with Jill!
We met up at Blackie’s for brunch. One thing led to another and…mimosas were ordered. 😉 The most amazing part? They each came with their own miniature bottle of champagne!
To supplement the mimosas – because obviously they were the main event – I ordered the home-style breakfast, which came with one scrambled egg, bacon, hash browns and wheat toast.
Fantastic breakfast with even better company. Afterward, we caught a movie. Perhaps you’ve heard of it?
I’ve been wanting to see The Vow since the trailer first came out. Jill and I were at a different movie (ahem, it may have been Breaking Dawn), when we saw it, and both of us started bawling. Obviously, we needed to see the movie together once it made it to theaters.
Overall, I really enjoyed it! It was a romantic comedy, which always comes with a certain amount of expectation and suspension of belief, but I really didn’t find it too cheesy or dramatic.
It was inspired by true events, which made it feel realistic. I loved that it was set in Chicago and kept searching for buildings I recognized. The ending was unexpected, too. It wasn’t disappointing – just different than how I’d imagined.
I’d say if you want a good chick flick, get to a theater immediately. 🙂
It will really make you think about the answer to the question:
How would you react if five years of your life suddenly disappeared?
It’s easy to think that if someone told you, “you’re married, you work at X company, you’re happy,” that with some time you’d be fine and accept it all as facts you simply didn’t remember. But it’s not quite that simple. I thought Rachel McAdams did a wonderful job portraying the emotions: confusion, anger, desire to get back what was lost, and more. She’s one of my favorite actresses.
So tell me…how do you think you would react?
Last but not least, RIP Whitney Houston.
Abrazos,
That first pic is SO cute! Jill is a natural beauty! Glad y’all enjoyed. I actually think it would be harder to be the person married to the person who forgets everything. Would ache at my heart!
That she is! And I completely agree – it would be frustrating to not being able to remember, but being the one who could still remember would be harder!
Oh man, I’ve been hearing mixed reviews about that movie and wasn’t sure what to think! I told Whit I wanted to see it, but he refuses. Guess I’ll have to wait until I get back to CA to see it by myself! I’m in serious need of a chick flick anyhow!
You definitely have to see it once you get back! It’s a great chick flick. 🙂
I’ve been dreaming about breakfast mimosas for days. Kinda jealous you had one…and the mini bottle of brut? How cute!
I highly recommend them – perhaps as a fun way to kick off Monday morning? 😉
