Good morning and happy hump day! I am so delighted to be relaxing (finally!) and am soaking up the next few days of complete freedom before my internship officially begins. I left for home yesterday, but snapped a beautiful shot of my campus before I left, as it was a gorgeous day!
Going to a school right on Lake Michigan has its perks π
Back to the food! I woke up this morning refreshed with just a minor bout of jet lag. So I did the only logical thing and made myself a mug of Coffee Cocoa – HomeStyle!
I spent the morning watching my brother’s 8th grade graduation on video and helping my mom pick out some doors for the new house (they are currently building – so exciting!). After a while I started getting hungry so I made myself a bowl of oats!
This bowl of oats was amazing – and something new! I used 1/2 cup old fashioned oats, 1 full cup of unsweetened vanilla almond milk (a first because I usually use 1/2 cup water), 1/4 cup blueberries (mixed in while cooking so you can’t really see them in the picture), 1 tbsp flax, 1/2 tbsp maple syrup, a handful of Quaker Oat Squares (yum!), and a handful of fresh blackberries! I also sprinkled some hot cocoa on top! The result?
Holy oaty goodness!! It was probably the most amazing bowl of oatmeal I’ve ever had – and that’s saying something! I really liked the sweetness of the blackberries – I’d never had them in oats before, but they will definitely be making a repeat appearance! The Quaker Oat Squares added the perfect amount of crunch!! I also loved the bowl I ate them in:
Very Southwestern (where we are!) π
My brother and I are planning a trip to the pool today – wow, I never thought I’d see the day where I’d be planning a trip to the pool instead of a trip to the T.V. station and homework! Other than that, I’ll just be lounging around – ahh, I just can’t help but talk about it because it’s been SO LONG since I’ve had some real time to relax!!
I hope everyone has a Wonderful Wednesday! π
Ooh lala, a relaxing day at the pool sounds so perfect. Yay for finally having time to laze around and do whatever you feel like!
And that bowl of oatmeal sounds deeeelicious. Makes me crave some right now.
I noticed the bowl before the oatmeal and was going to comment on how great that looks, too. But you beat me to it π
I haven’t tried blackberries in oatmeal either. Heck, I don’t put much in my oatmeal. Great exploration!
Such gorgeous photographs of the lake!
Enjoy the relaxation!! I am jealous you get to go lay by the pool! The Midwest just keeps getting hit with rain π
Kristie ~ Yes, you must try it π
Jessica ~ Haha, yes – I love being home because it means new bowls to photograph. The blogging world has made me become a bowl collector/admirer!
VeggieGirl ~ Thank you π
Monica ~ Ah yes, the Midwest and rain go well together π I hope it clears up soon!
