Happy Thursday everyone! I spent the morning playing golf in the hot, hot sun – I’m feeling pretty tired now! I did snap a picture of a saguaro in bloom:
For breakfast this morning, I started out with another delicious mug of Coffee Cocoa – even when it’s hot outside, I still love this drink.
My dad made us some delicious Belgian waffles for breakfast. Can you tell who the chef is in this family?! Now you know why I go to Panera so much – I’ve still got a lot to learn about cooking because I’ve been spoiled by my dad’s meals my whole life!
Yum yum! I topped my waffle with some maple syrup (attempted to be in the shape of a smiley face, but by the time I took the picture it had run all over the place!):
I realized after I finished that I should have put some berries on top – oh well, sometimes plain is good enough for me!
After we finished our round of golf, the sun + heat + exercise combination made us plenty hungry for lunch!! We ended up eating at the restaurant in the clubhouse – Chiricahua Grill. I got a caprese salad (with vine ripe tomatoes – man, I hope I don’t regret trusting that the vine ones are ok!), which included tomatoes, mozzarella, arugula, and chicken smothered in a delicious pesto sauce! I also stole my mom’s pickle 😉 It was a very delicious and filling lunch combination!
BAD EYES!!
So as the title of this post indicates, there were some good eats – but there were also bad eyes! I put on a new sunscreen for my face this morning – one my mom swears by. Well, I’ve had problems in the past with sunscreen – it has to be a certain brand or else I have an allergic reaction. I have no idea what it is I could be allergic to, because the ingredient lists are the exact same! But I should have drawn on past experience, because about four holes into the round…my eyes started burning!! They basically swelled shut – I could barely see much less open them all the way. It made for an interesting round – I decided to grin and bear it (with a little complaining here and there, haha) but overall I actually played better than I have in months – go figure! I guess I just had to tap into my other senses 😉 I got home and washed my face and my eyes have slowly been getting better. They are still a little watery, but at least I can see the computer screen now
I’m resting a little now, and later my dad, brother and I are planning to ride bikes to the gym. I hope everyone has been having a terrific Thursday! “See” you for dinner – I’ll give you one guess for who’s cookin’! 😉
Wow, your dad is awesome!! I wish mine would make me some waffles!!
wow sounds like you had an awesome day!
between the waffles & the caprese salad – ahhh i’d be in food heaven!
Oh no, feel better soon, Jenn’s eyes!
But yay for smiley-face waffles and syrup!!!
wow that salad looks awesome! I’m so sorry about your eyes, hope they feel beter!
Ugh, I totally know how you feel – I have super sensitive skin so sun screens, detergents, soaps, lotions, etc. can really upset it!
That waffle looks perfect! I wish my dad could cook something else besides scrambled eggs 😛
