Get Up, Get Glowing + Giveaway

It’s official: there are just four weeks of class left in my college career! I don’t have any finals during finals week, so once class is over, school is over! It is such an odd feeling for me because it feels like the year just started and, like some other bloggers, I’ve been feeling pretty sentimental. I’ve been reconnecting with old friends these past few weeks and we’ve developed stronger bonds than ever before…and pretty soon, they’re leaving me!

I wanted to shake things up and post in the morning 🙂 I just got done eating a fabulous egg wrap for breakfast. There was an overabundance of eggs, so I had to leave some outside the tortilla.

As usual, I used the 1 whole egg + 2 egg whites combination with a handful of spinach. I stuffed 1/2 of the scramble into a La Tortilla Factory whole grain tortilla, and topped everything with Goya Adobo and some HFCS-free ketchup.

It was superb with the usual morning mug of Coffee Cocoa.

Recently, I had mentioned that I was trying to follow my own version of Angela’s Project Glow. This past winter was a terrible one for my skin. I had more blemishes, dryness and irritation that I ever have in my life (um, I thought I was supposed to be done with raging hormones?). After doing a lot of online research and gaining further inspiration from Angela, I decided to em”bark” on an “all-natural” experiment, thanks in large part to Burt’s Bees.

The regimen includes the following:

MORNING

EVENING

The Hands & Feet Kit was a free gift with my purchase  I have been following this routine for almost one week now, and I have to say, my skin really does feel as though it’s “glowing” and starting to recover. As a Proactiv user for most of my teenage and early adult years, I feel as though perhaps my skin became immune to its effectiveness. I don’t think my skin likes the harsh chemical treatment anymore. I’m planning on doing another review once a month has passed, so stay tuned.

Oh, and by the way, the peach exfoliating cleanser smells absolutely AMAZING!!

I am also using coconut oil a la Angela for the rest of my body. It took a little time to get used to the oily result on my skin, but I have to say, it also really does make me feel like I’m glowing! Thanks, Angela! I can’t wait to see what the next month brings.

REVIEW + GIVEAWAY!!

The final topic for today’s post is PETA’s Vegan College Cookbook. This cookbook has been making its way around the blogosphere, and it is finally available in stores or online by clicking here.

PETA'sVegan CollegeCookbook_CVVR.indd

I received a copy a few weeks ago and have had the chance to look through it. A lot of my initial reactions and opinions about the book are similar to what other bloggers have said, but in case you haven’t heard of this book before, here are some pros and cons.

The Good:

  • The recipes are super easy to make, which is perfect for a Lazy Chef and college student like myself. I think the target market for this book is a great idea and it can only help raise awareness of what vegetarianism and veganism are. I feel that I have learned a lot from the blogosphere and books like these so that I no longer believe the stereotype that being vegan means eating salad and “twigs” all the time. But I can’t tell you how many college students I know who still feel that way, no matter what I say otherwise. This book will definitely enlighten them.
  • The layout of the book is fun and humorous. It starts out in “Part One” with basic information on using a microwave, what you need in your kitchen, what a vegan diet is, and what some of the alternatives to meat, egg and dairy products are. In “Part Two” there are several categories of recipes, ranging from breakfast to dessert and everything in between. There are also “spotlights” of recipes that feature certain ingredients such as peanut butter, ramen and potatoes, all “college classics” presented in a new, vegan way.

The Not-So-Good:

  • The recipes are easy, but almost too easy if you aren’t in college and/or do have access to something other than your dorm room kitchen. That said, this book is called the “college cookbook” and is clearly trying to target a certain audience.

Bottom Line:

If you are a young college student looking to explore the vegan lifestyle, this book is a great resource because it provides easy, cheap and delicious ways to eat vegan without overwhelming you with information. It’s a nice introduction into the lifestyle that could lead to further research. If you are already a seasoned pro, you probably won’t learn very much or think the recipes are challenging.

Even though I am not technically a vegan or vegetarian, I still am excited to use this book. I have bookmarked several of the recipes, including the “Pimp My Ramen Noodles,” the “Dirty Chick (Pea) Clean-Up Salad” and the “Ice Cream Frizzle Drizzle” 🙂 Yes, all the names are creative.

AND NOW…THE GIVEAWAY!

  1. Congrats on the four weeks to go! My skin is always fighting with me! I need to try some of Angela’s remedies! I agree- the recipes in the Peta cookbook are….pretty simple…maybe too simple for the most part. I think they’re kind of like a great idea generator. If you can’t think of what to eat, take a glance through the cookbook and find some great/simple ideas!

  2. Thanks for the shoutout! I am so pumped that you are already finding that your skin is recovering! 🙂 yay. Mine has been extra good lately too because of another product I have been using! I will post about it today!!!!

I felt the same about the PETA cookbook too. A bit too simple for me and too much reliance on fake meats.

  3. I use Cetaphil cleansing bars on my face, Neutrogena On-The-Spot treatment on acne, & Cetaphil Moisturizer afterwards. It’s pretty much the regimen from acne.org, but I don’t put the Neutrogena stuff all over my whole face, just on trouble areas. I loooooove the Cetaphil bars. I tried the liquid, but the bars just work so much better for me – and hey, they’re also cheaper. Win/win.

My favorite vegan recipe is actually raw too. It’s this recipe for lemon cookies. One of my friends is 95% raw and she always makes them and they’re to DIE for.

I linked to the post in my most recent post =]

  4. I’m so happy to see there’s someone else who LOVES Burt’s Bees! I have been using their (his?) products for YEARS, and need to replenish my summer skincare regimen… THanks for the reminder!!
I don’t know that I really *want* that cookbook, but heck I’ll enter anyway 🙂 Favorite vegan recipe is my vegan bulgur chili!! It rocks!
Can I just tell you, I’m SO EXCITED for Friday? I’m going to try a different route so I don’t get stuck by school busses!

  5. Exciting giveawayyy! I’ve been seeing this cookbook EVERYWHERE and I’m so curious about it.

Not being vegan myself, I’d have to say some of my favorite “vegan” recipes would be homemade hummus and bean dips 🙂

  6. My skincare routine is pretty simple.

I wash my face morning and night w/Cetaphil. I moisturize in the morning w/Oil of Olay SPF 15. At night I moisturize w/Oil of Olay regular moisturizer. I exfoliate using an aspirin mask once (sometimes twice) a week. My skin is very clear and I get compliments all the time on it! Simple is best when it comes to skincare, in my opinion!

  7. I’ll put lotion or vaseline on my hands before I go to sleep, cover them up with socks, and wake up with silky-smooth hands!

  8. I’m a clinique girl! 3 step system every morning and night since 8th grade 🙂 My whole family has their own little custom clinique combo, even my dad!

  9. OH man! Everyone keeps having that book, and it looks so simple, I’m dying for a copy!

My favorite vegan recipe would be from Veggie Girl (yes – I haven’t even prepared it myself) – I got to sample some of her banana bread once, and it was absolutely heavenly! 😀

  10. I’m excited to see how your skin turns out in a month! This winter has been rough on my skin too, and I’m sick of having the same skin at 24 as I did at 14. Bleh.

Usually I use some sort of all natural or very plain cleanser in the mornings and evenings, and occasionally hit up something with more chemical-y ingredients like salicylic acid when my skin’s looking particularly bad. I have no idea if this is working for me… ha. I feel so clueless now that I’m writing it out!

  11. I am obsessed with Cetaphil! 🙂

I have no good Vegan recipes – but would love to try some! I think this cookbook would be perfect for me since I cant cook very well – lol!

  12. Enjoy this countdown. One of the scariest things for me when I finished university and started working was the lack of countdown. My first few jobs I would walk in every morning and think- I can get through today. That was the best countdown I could muster for something that had no real end in site aside from my either being fired or quitting.

  13. my skin care routine is very simple.. I was with neutrogena acne scrub in the morning and apply lotion. In the evening i wash with an organic face wash and take off my make up. simple!

  14. I am an avid cetaphill face wash user b/c I have sensitive but oily skin. My fav vegan food is banana and almond butter! haha

  15. My skin care routine is terrible, but I do the same thing every day, I wash with an apricot scrub then moisturize. Sometimes Ill wash my face at night to get of all the ickyness from work, but most of the time Im too tired…probably why my skin is so terrible!

And my fav. vegan recipe, since I really only know one, is my green smoothie I make every day for lunch, with spinach, banana, almond milk (I hope this is vegan?), and frozen berries and mango. I would really LOVE to learn more, so winning this book would totally help me out, specially since I fit the bill as a broke, busy, college student!

  16. -my washing routine is neutrogena pink grapefruit acne cleanser in the am, toner and spf 50 moisturizer. In the pm it’s cetaphil face cleanser, toner and moisterurizer.

    -fav vegan meal…mmm salad..salad..salad…i’m a veggie fanatic!

  17. it’s awful awful awful, but I never wash my face. Every time I do, I break out! I know its not the ‘correct’ way to deal with my skin, but it seems to work for me.

As far as vegan recipes, vegan pizza might be the greatest ever. No cheese, just tons and tons of veggies loaded on a whole wheat crust! Something I dearly miss when living in a dorm!

  18. I’ve used the BB’s Blemish Stick before and it works WONDERS! Honestly, it’s perfect!

Only four weeks?! How exciting!! Good luck, girl! I’m loving your eggy breakfast – yum 🙂

  19. I have never heard of these products!
I just did a post on products that are suppose to promise “beauty” as a result.

I’m interested to see how you go!
You look fab anyways, but hey.. nothin’ wrong with a little glow action!

  20. I’ve heard of this cookbook – sounds cool!! I linked to the giveaway on my blog…
You say that some of the recipes are very easy which is perfect for me – I’m not a very experienced cook and I need to start practicing on some easier recipes… 🙂
Unfortunately I don’t have good advice for skin care – I’ve been doing the simple soap and water routine all my life and never had any problem! I never wear make up though…
Good luck on your last 4 weeks of school – Enjoy them!!!

long time reader, new commenter – Cinemarie 🙂

  21. I have used The Body Shop’s Tea Tree Oil Face Wash for nearly two years and haven’t had a bad breakout since!

  22. In the morning I use Eminence Stone Crop Gel Wash following up with the Tomato Sun Cream. Then in the evening I use the same wash but instead of the cream I use the Apricot Moisterizer. I also have the Clarisonic Skin Brush which is AMAZING.

My favorite vegan recipe? Snobby Joes from V’Con!

I will be sure to link back in my next post =)

  23. my skin care routine is just clean and clear face wash. i also make sure to always wash my face right after a workout.

i would love to try cooking some of the vegan recipes. i am not vegan, but i am curious to see what its all about 🙂

  24. Mmmmmm, delicious eats. Totally love it all!
    And oohh Burt Bee’s!!!

As for my skin care routine, I’m using this tea tree face wash at the moment.

  25. i wash my face about about a billion times a day with neutrogena products. as far as a vegan recipe goes…i’m not quite sure what my favorite is. however, what i do know is that the kashi mayan harvest bake microwave meal is amazing!

  26. My skin care routine is the same as it was when I was 12. Noxema face wash before bed, after a workout and when I wake up. Sounds simple and silly but it has kept my face clear for 13 years now! 🙂

  27. Hehe..I am posting my PETA review today (or tomorrow, I’m being lazy), too! I have similar thoughts to you. Great minds think alike 😉

What brand of HFCS-free ketchup do you use? I never thought about ketchup has an HFCS source before! Does Heinz have it? I’ll have to go check…yikes!

  28. My skincare routine right now is very simplistic b/c I have recently developed eczema all over my face:( I have been using Cetaphil cleanser in the morning and Purpose moisturizer with SPF15. I use Cetaphil cleanser again in the evenings followed by Cetaphil moisturizer. I am intrigued by your skin routine though. I love Burt’s Bee’s products, but I’ve never used their skin care. Maybe it would help with the eczema? It’s hard to tell.

Oh, I don’t have a favorite vegan recipe but I’m really looking forward to trying more vegan food. I’m trying to clean up my diet bigtime to help with the eczema. I would love to win this cookbook b/c I barely know anything about vegan food. Simple would be good for me! 🙂

  29. I use the proactiv system, but I mostly only use the toner every day. Since it’s kinda harsh, I use the repairing lotion maybe every other day. But I ALWAYS have to put on their Daily Oil Control every morning within a short time of waking up. If I don’t, my face gets SO oily! I can’t ever go without it.

  30. Everyday I wash my face with Neutrogena facewash and I use the grapefruit scrub a few times a week. I’m always sure to moisturize. Yay for giveaways! (:

  31. My skin care routine is pretty much washing every night and rinsing in the morning. I use Nuetrogena Foaming Cleanser and a washcloth. I don’t have the best luck with blemishes though so I’d love to hear how that blemish stick is working for you!

As for a fave vegan recipe, I would say maybe banana and almond butter 😉

    Fun Giveaway!

  32. i’m addicted to olive oil cleanser lately. it sounds crazy but it works amazingly and gets every last trace of make-up off without leaving my face dry OR greasy! other than that, i use toner, moisturizer, and sunscreen every day…

  33. Eat well, lots of liquids, no alcohol, oil of olay products..both cleaning and moisturizing… no make-up except mascara and lipstick… 😉 mositurize moisturize moisturize…….

  34. I read about Angela’s skin challenge and I already use St. Ives….I think I may jump on the bandwagon with you and do the Bert’s bees. My skin has started breaking out like a pre-pubescent boy and it is driving ME CRAZY. I am nearly 30…not 14!

    Happiness Awaits

  35. dude, i totally want that breakfast! i always wish i had time to make eggs in the morning!

and skin care regime: bar soap when i take a shower. hehe…soooo lame.

fav vegan recipe: happy herbivores blueberry breakfast bread and vegan chili/black bean soup!

  36. My favorite vegan recipe is simple and always takes me on a trip down memory lane. I use one la tortilla factory wrap and place it in a skillet cooking both sides until browned. Then I use PB2 and spread it all over one half of the wrap and blueberry preserves on the other half, fold over and enjoy! Its a warm PB&J and makes a great snack!

  37. the regimen sounds like it’s doing wonders! i’ve always been curious about burts bees products, and i’m glad to see they are obviously good 😀

wow, time really does fly! i can’t imagine how i will feel when i am in your position… i hope you get to savour every moment that remains.

as for my skincare regime… i swear by clinique. they are fragrance-free and really good for sensitive/dry skin like mine. i use the cleansing exfoliator everyday, and remove make up with their “take the day off” lotion, and also use the exfoliator face wash from time to time. to take care of my dryness, i use their “dramatically different lotion” and their supersuper moisturiser (i’ve forgotten the real name!), and when the sun is out, i use a SPF40 city-block! i also use their powder foundation…. basically, almost every piece of make up i use daily is clinique, and i love them 😀

favourite vegan recipe…. vegan cookies and baked goods never fail to disappoint! i also love the vegan chilli recipes from ED&BV.

  38. simply washing with cetaphil is my skincare regimen….but i tried it all back in the day. honestly, i think my birth control has helped my skin more than anything!

    thanks for the giveaway!

  39. …and i can’t provide a favorite vegan recipe…it’s why i need the cookbook 🙂

  40. i started using mary kay’s timewise skin care about six weeks ago and i’ve been shocked at how the texture of my skin has become so much more smooth! it’s simple and i really love it.

i’d love a cookbook with some vegan recipes!

  41. I just started using Bare Escentuals products so I am trying out their cleanser. I also use a nighttime scrub from Neutrogena in the evenings. I would like to learn how to make some vegan recipes so this cookbook would be a nice addition.

  42. I would love to win the cookbook, especially since I will be going to college next year!! My favorite vegan recipe is the energy cookies from vive le vegan!

  43. first off, congrats! although i’m sure you’ve heard it enough already 🙂

my favorite vegan recipe hands-down is focaccia. homemade and fresh and so olive oily…. so gooooood.

and, burts bees is such a great skin care line. you might also like natures gate organics. i use that a lot and it’s a little cheaper than bees.

  44. Yay! Another chance to win this cookbook–I am a college student, so it may just work =) My skin care routine is based on Biore and Avon products. I use the Biore astringent cleanser in the AM along with Avon Soothing Cleansing Lotion and Avon VitaMoist and at night I use Biore Foaming Cleanser with their nightly moisturizing cream as well.

  45. Favorite vegan eats = hummus and super-charge me cookies!!

YAAAY on almost graduating! Your life just keeps getting betta day by day!

And I’m excited to see how those products turn out! My skin is always breaking out so I’m pumped to hear about other treatments!

  46. My skin care routine is almost non-existent. It consists of washing/exfoliating my face every morning in the shower and putting on lotion after my shower. I guess I am pretty low-maintenance…or lazy 🙂

My favorite vegan recipe would have to be vegan fajitas made with roasted veggies and hummus.

  47. That’s wonderful that you only have weeks left of college. I remember how exciting that time is and wish you all the best!

Your egg wrap looks delicious! I love spinach in my egg whites and of course lots and lots of ketchup.

I’ve heard so much about this book, I am hoping to have a chance to check it out.

    Take care!

  48. My favorite vegan recipe is Snobby Joes from Veganomicon. The whole family loves them!

  49. Hmm I’ve been using these Neutrogena pads and an Acne Stress Control scrub as well. I don’t know if they work that well though, so I might try some new products! As for vegan recipes, I’m not exactly vegan (or vegetarian even), so no recipes here!

  50. I just bought skin care items today! I got St. Ive’s apricot scrub. I also have a Neutrogena cleanser I need to use more.

One of my favorite vegan dishes is a stir fry with chickpeas, spinach, and tomatoes.

  51. Ummm I unfortunately have no real skin care regimen. I had eczema as a child, so now as a young adult I am blessed with clear skin. I don’t even wash it! Gasp! (Except in the shower) However, I do try to wear sunscreen.

  52. My favorite vegan recipe are vegan cupcakes with carob, they are divine. It replaces the egg/butter with vinegar and olive oil, yummy!

My skin routine is neutrogena clear skin wash and SPF 20 moisturizer morning and night!

  53. Four more weeks!! It’s sooo bittersweet, isn’t it? Or maybe I’m too sappy 😉

I’m a Proactiv user! I have been wanting to switch to something more natural, but I’m afraid I’m going to break out. I’m definitely keepin tabs on you and your mug.

Hmm fave vegan recipe is a tie, both from Veganomicon: chickpea cutlets and pumpkin pecan crumble coffee cake (that’s probably not the exact name, but it was incredible).

    Enjoy the week!

  54. Your breakfasts never cease to make me drool! 😛

My skin care regimen is as follows: Moisturizer in the AM + again in the PM. Errr wash face on nights it feels too greasy. The end! hahahah

4 weeks! savor it hun!!! But for some reason, I get to see my closest college girlfriends a lot/often enough so it’s not terrible yet!! I think what I miss the most about college is the feeling of actually belonging there. It’s only been a year, but I don’t feel like I know the people or the campus anymore. 🙁 *tears* Anyway, Enjoy the finals weeks and the yummy evanston eateries!!!! muaahahahah

  55. whoa 4 weeks! Must be exciting!

I use Clinique’s three step system: face wash, moisturizer and toner. It’s great!

  56. I don’t really do anything for my skin. Somehow I lucked out and just wash it when I shower.

  57. Did you know that Burt’s Bees is created in my college town of Durham, NC? Needless to say, the WF I go to so often is loaded with their products!

  58. That soap bark and chamomille cleanser is my FAVORITE! Even with my oily skin, it’s gentle and leaves my skin feeling amazing!

  59. hey! i use estee lauder perfectly clean face wash. i love burt’s bees products as well!

my favorite vegan food is the peanut butter bars i make.. they are divine! i will have to post the recipe sometime. when i make them i eat waaaay too many.. so i try not to make them often 😉

i linked your giveaway to my blog.. http://mealsandmoves.wordpress.com/?p=273

    thanks!

  60. For my skin care routine, I just wash it in the morning, night, and after I exercise with Neutrogena oil-free acne wash. Whenever my skin feels super dry, I use St Ive’s Apricot scrub, its really good at getting all of the dry skin off!

  61. Jenn.
So glad the new skin routine seems to be working. I’m pretty basic and just use Cetaphil cleanser every night and whatever soap is in our shower in the mornings. Then I use Cetaphil moisturizer with sunblock after my shower. That’s it. Coconut oil is great for the skin. I used to use it everyday, but then noticed it was leaving stains on my clothes. So, be careful! Chris cooks his eggs in coconut oil every morning, and it’s done wonders for his skin. His legs used to be all dry & scaly, but not anymore.

Don’t worry about including me in the cookbook contest. Oh, and that picture of you and your mom and little bro is adorable…but I want to see Papa Bender! 🙂

  62. I use the burts bees soap bark and chammomile face wash and it is heavenly!! I love the smell and my skin went from tight and dry (using Clinique products) to soft and moisturized after only a few uses of Burts bees. I LOVE it!

  63. Lets see… my skin care routine is to use Pond’s daily gentle exfoliating cleanser (don’t remember the exact terminology) and an eye cream and moisturizer with sun screen in the morning with some (unfortunately greasy, I’m trying to use it up) makeup remover followed by Noxema’s anti acne cleanser and a Pond’s moisturizing cream at night. I’ll link back from my blog but don’t yet have any vegan recipes to get me a second entry… Hopefully I can change that soon! 🙂

  64. 4 more weeks! That’s crazy!
My skin care routine is nothing special, I use St. Ives apricot scrub in the shower then mostiurize with their face lotion, then before bed I use their deep pore cleanser, and then use just plain old aloe as my night time moisturizer.

  65. I am craving eggs now!

My skin care routine is…ah, kind of non-existant! I use baby soap and a very mild moisturiser- in summer I use sun block moisturiser but that’s as adventurous as I get!

  66. Hello 🙂

My favorite vegan recipe is eggplant veggie lasagna. I really need to make that again and write down the recipe!

  67. I LOVE Burt’s Bees products. Some of my favorites include the coconut foot lotion ( really helps cracked heels!) and the Radiance Exfloating Body Wash! As for my face, I use Cetaphil. Old school, but it works!

  68. Oh, and my fav vegan recipe is banana oatmeal nut-butter oatmeal, I eat it EVERYDAY 😀

  69. My skin care routine…kinda sucks! I STILL have some acne (have since age 12!…I’m now almost 22!) so I use a gel thing at night to dry out the pimps (pimples haha) and other than that…I have VERY sensitive skin, so I just use Cetaphil cleanser for my face…very mild. And always take off that makeup before bed!!!! 🙂

As for vegan recipes…I haven’t tried too many, but I like the idea of Jenna’s vegan tacos that she makes a lot! 😀

  70. Congrats on the impending end of school! It’s an incredible feeling, and overwhelming at the same time – seems like yesterday to me. Enjoy the remainder!

I think I’m going to follow suit with a natural makeover of the skin products I use because I was listening to Jillian MIchaels’ radio show and she was saying that there are all kinds of preservatives and parabens in many of the popular skin care lines (and saran wrap and like everything else we use every day…), which can really mess with your hormones and even contribute to weight gain! That right there is enough to get me to seek out natural alternatives. Since there’s such a variety out there, there’s no excuse these days! She even recommended using plain olive oil in the shower – I don’t know if I would go that far, but your Burt’s Bees stash looks about right to me. I’m all for ditching the crap!

  71. 1. My skin care routine is a bar of soap & some moisturizer after my shower! Not very lady like!
    2. My fave vegan recipe would be a combo of zucchini, corn, red onion, & salsa with some hot sauce. Its a great addition to taco night.
    Also, congrats on the engagement!

  72. My skin care routine is cleansing + moisturizing at night(both neutrogena products) and then in the morning I use a gentle scrub while in the shower(biore) + moisurizing again. And my favorite vegan recipe would just be a simple banana with raw almond butter. I don’t have a blog, but I emailed you!

  73. That breakfast looks so delicious Jenn!! I’m so glad that you are fully enjoying your last few weeks of school with friends! And thanks for mentioning how great the burt’s bees skin products are working, since I’m always looking for ways to improve my skin!

  74. Snobby Joes are great, as are a ton of the vegan recipes on Whole Foods website.

  75. O my goodness! You are almost done with school-just be thankful you didn’t just finish in early May. 1. Congrats on the engagement!
    2. I WAS a vegan in college and ate tons of fun stuff-no twigs allowed!
    3. Those skin products look great, I have one pimple on my face right now and it is making me ANGRY!

  76. My favorite skin care routine starts with Cetaphil, followed up with my almond honey scrub, then, my stress relieving minty mask. Love Burts!

  77. my mom got me started on the three step clinique, the soap, the astringent, and the facial lotion, so i’ve been using that for years.

  78. fave vegan meal…anything mediterranean, falafel, hummus, fava bean, stewed veggies and lentils. mmm. and dessert – whole foods ginormous vegan chocolate chip cookies!

  79. Jenn,

I’m going to be college student in a few months. I’m terrified… I could definately use a little PETA guidance.

My daily skincare routine: run, sweat, dance, sweat, shower, chase children around Barnes and Noble’s kiddo department, sweat, paint for three hours (oil paint facial anyone?), sweat, shower, sleep, repeat. ;P I’m rathere low maintenance.

    My favorite vegan recipe:

Raw cookie dough oats (oats, banana, stevia, vanilla, carbo chips, and kosher SALT)

Try it. The salt+vanilla makes it taste JUST like cookie dough!

    Have a great Thursday. TGIAF!

    With Love,

    Emily

  80. You are very lucky to have close friends from your university years. I never went away to school, and neither did most of my friends (from what I can tell, if you live in a city with a university, you tend to go there, at least in Canada), so there was no need to “make new friends” in my classes, since I hung with the same crew as high school. Alas, most of those friendships have drifted apart, for better or for worse. Hopefully you can keep yours going throughout the years, even when you are no longer in the same city or state.

And I really like Burt’s Bees stuff. I use their lip balm all the time, and have used their shampoo/conditioner. Never tried out their facial products, but I might have to give it a go one of these days.

  81. Yeah for giveaways! My fav vegan recipe is probably Tofu stir fry with veggies, or baked tofu. YUMM…

  82. I’ve never tried Burt’s Bees (although many friends of mine like it a lot).
I use prescription acne cream w/benzoyl peroxide…and it works pretty well 😛

I hope I win the cookbook (I’ll be a college student this July!!); it’s definitely different from most cookbooks I use.

    Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizing Gel
    Clinique’s All About eyes

This has worked pretty well for me (clears it up most of the time) 🙂

  84. My favorite vegan recipe is a Pumpkin Flax Bread that uses flax seed instead of eggs. So moist and yummy! (I believe it’s from allrecipes.com)

  85. My favorite vegan snack requires no cooking or baking just a run to your local Whole Foods! The snack is Dr. Laura’s Oatmeal Raisin Bite-lettes. Completely vegan and completely irresistable!

  86. I believe good skin starts inside out…so I make sure to eat very healthy with fruits and veggies included in every snack and meal!
    My skin care routine:
I wash my face 2 times a day, morning and night.
I do the proactive program, cleanser, toner and moisturizer.
I don’t wear makeup to the gym and after I workout I wash my face.
Pretty simple but moisturizing is key for glowing skin!

My favorite vegan recipe would have to be Sweeteatsny.com’s
Tricolor Tofu Scramble…it was my first vegan recipe I ever cooked and its heavily on meal rotation during the week. Perfect for breakfast…lunch or dinner. It can be made so many different ways its an excellent meal! Sometimes I add mushrooms and lentils to make it more dinner like!

    My blog is…www.sleepdreamdress.blogspot.com

I hope I win! I am a student myself so this would be quiet helpful! Thanks 🙂
