I’m down to the wire on this week’s Blogger Secret Ingredient, but it’s a yummy one so hopefully my lack of time management skills can be overlooked π I tried to get creative with the title of the smoothie, if you couldn’t tell!
Bender’s Blenders: Banana Blueberry + Strawberry Sorbet = Incom”pear”able
Yes, it’s a lengthy one – but it all translates into BSI!!
Ingredients (serves two):
- 1 cup orange juice
- 1 medium banana
- 1/2 cup frozen strawberries
- 1/4 cup frozen blueberries
- 1 Island Way Orange Mango Sorbet
- 1/2 green D’Anjou pear, sliced

Note: I found the sorbet at Costco in a big bulk pack that came with all the flavors you see in the link above. It’s a great find – the sorbet comes in the actual fruit peel as a container, how cool is that?! – and makes for a very nice dessert on its own, too!
But back to the real deal at hand – the smoothie! I blended the ingredients together and then added the remaining 1/2 pear to the top of each smoothie for garnish.
The verdict? Bobby and I were both BIG fans of this fruity delight. It combines so many delicious fruits into one big glass, and you can definitely taste each unique flavor. I’ve never tried pear in a smoothie before, and I think it must have added to the delicious factor. When combined with the sorbet to give it that extra kick of sweetness and chill, this smoothie becomes one that I will definitely be having again!!

I would like to thank Erica of Itzy’s Kitchen for choosing such a timely and tasty BSI ingredient this week! In conclusion, I love pears.
P.S. Looking around at several other blogs helped me decide on a mapping site that I could use to track the locations of all my readers! How cool is that?! Go to ClustrMaps to build your own!

Your smoothie looks delicious. I really want to try the sorbet from Costco – that seems like the perfect solution for making smoothies or for a snack and the fruit container is too cute.

that sorbet in the fruit peel looks SO cool! and your smoothie recipes sound extremely refreshing!
haha I have ClustrMap on my page too! Isn’t it an awesome tool?!?!
Excellent recipe, can never go wrong with a smoothie. I have one almost every day now, but I make them so thick and creamy that I actually call it ice cream.
oooo yum! I havent had a smoothie in ages. I think i prefer to eat each ingredient seperately- makes it seem like more, and keeps me fuller. This one counds amazing though!
