Happy Saturday everyone! I just got back from seeing the movie Hancock – has anyone else seen that yet? It was pretty crazy and definitely not your usual Will Smith role. But I really like him as an actor and there were some interesting twists throughout the movie that kept it entertaining.
I slept in this morning, but am still feeling tired. I think I need one more full night of rest to get back on track – but then of course it’s back to work on Monday and the cycle starts all over again. I’m not complaining, I love my internship – but I also can’t deny that I love sleep:)
BREAKFAST
Alright, one last day of this never-ending combination before I could get to the grocery store. I started out with some cereal – 2 cups of Nature’s Path Rice Puffs (one of the things I like most about this cereal is the volume you can get out of it) with unsweetened chocolate almond milk.
Of course it was topped with some TJ’s Anti-OXidant trail mix. Now that one is all gone, so that means I get to open a new bag!
And of course, this breakfast wouldn’t be complete without the microwaved poached egg whites with goat cheese, right? Here it is!
After breakfast, I went to the grocery store to get some much needed sustenance! Unfortunately, I didn’t see the request for a picture, and I forgot to take one this time. Sorry, everyone! I promise I will be better next time. But I will be sure to provide you with plenty of pictures when I eat what I bought
LUNCH
And the pictures of what I bought start here! I went to Whole Foods and couldn’t resist picking up these guys for lunch.
California rolls are my favorite type of sushi. These were made with real crab, avocado and brown rice. I opted out of the soy sauce and chose to drizzle them with Annie’s Woodstock dressing instead – YUM!
Along with the sushi, I tried out a new cracker, also found at Whole Foods.
They’re called Mary’s Gone Crackers, and as you can see from the picture, they’re a gluten- and wheat-free crackers made with quinoa and flax seed, among other ingredients. I tried out the herb flavor.
They were pretty bland. I think next time I will try spreading some goat cheese or peanut butter on top to give them more of a flavor. But I did like the texture overall.
DINNER
I’m quite proud of dinner tonight:) First of all, I finally bought SWEET POTATOES at the store today at a great price!
Aw, sweet!
Second of all, I tried out a new fish: Chilean Sea Bass. It was on sale at the grocery store and since I’ve recently started to like fish, I thought, why not? The end result was a great meal!
For the fish, I started by coating it with some mesquite seasoning, then cooked it in a pan on the stove on medium heat with some PAM cooking spray. It took a little less than 10 minutes, and came out really flavorful. It was a little bit “fishier” tasting than I’m used to, but I still enjoyed it.
As for the sweet potato, I took a page from Em of Gliding Calm’s book and microwaved it:) I cut it into circles and enjoyed every bite with ketchup. I don’t know why I haven’t been buying these. I really, truly love them. You will be seeing them much more often around here!
Before the movie, I wanted something sweet to top off what was already a lovely evening of eating. I decided on some rice pudding with a dollop of my new hazelnut butter on top!
The hazelnut butter is another find from my Whole Foods trip. I think Liz of VeggieGirl will be very excited to see this next picture;)
Yup, I found Futters Nut Butter! I decided on hazelnut butter because I had never tried it before. I am not disappointed. It is super nutty and thick, and requires minimal stirring which is a definite plus because I normally hate the oil at the top and it discourages me from buying those brands.
So there you have it! I found a way to incorporate many of my groceries into this post after all – by eating them! I hope you all have had a relaxing weekend so far.
Sweet dreams 🙂
I love sweet potatoes as well, but I haven’t bought them lately either. I think of them as a winter veggie even though they are potatoes and obviously available year round. I must get one next time I go to the grocery.
Hi Jenn!
I just wanted to give you a website address in case you start eating fish more frequently. My Father in Law told us about it. It’s a guide for what fish to buy and how often you should eat it based on Mercury levels. It also tells you what fish are in danger due to either low numbers or destructive fishing methods.

Just and FYI that I thought you might be able to use 🙂
greetings!
Im mad at you because since you made her crave sushi I shall now be empty.
LOVE,
MizFit’s wallet
Haha, I now eat sweet potatoes the same way – I used to spend tons of time baking them, but now I just microwave them and cut them into circles; and then proceed to eat them with cherry-tomatoes (I’m not a ketchup fan).
FUTTER’S NUT BUTTERS BRAND OF HAZELNUT-BUTTER!!!!!!!!!! MY FAVORITE AND THE ONLY BRAND OF ANY NUT-BUTTER THAT I WILL PURCHASE!!!!!!!!! Jenn, you made me smile :0)
Such a good idea to top your sushi with Woodstock Dressing. I love vegetable sushi, and would welcome a change from dipping it in soy sauce.
that sushi looks sooooo good…i’ve been craving some for a really long time…and i never would have thought of drizzling dressing on it instead of soy sauce! what a great idea!
and don’t you just love the cycle of sleep and work? just when you think you’ve caught up on one, you fall behind in some way or another, in the other. hahaha.
hope you have a restful weekend before we have to go to work again tomorrow! 😀
I love sleep too!! You can take on anything if you’re well-rested 🙂
That hazelnut butter sounds intriguing. I’ll have to keep an eye out for it! And lunch at Whole Foods, and then sweet potatoes with ketchup?! (Anything is better with ketchup). It all sounds so yummy!
Ooh, and I’ve had those Mary’s Gone Crackers, I love ’em. The name is great too, lol.

I love sweet potatoes but have yet to slice em up like that. I only cook and eat them whole. They seem so much more fun sliced!
And that’s a great idea with the sushi woodstock drizzle. I am definitely trying something like that next time I have sushi!
Yum! I love California rolls!
Hi! I was catching up on some of your old posts and noticed you ordered egg white omelets a few times. I was wondering how/what you say when you order egg white omelets. I found that despite the actual egg whites being low cal restaurants still bring them dripping in oil! I have never asked for it cooked with a spray? Is that how you do it? Doesn’t the pan still have leftover oil? Thanks!
Jenn Jenn! lol
Weee! Thank you so much for the shout out!! Excitinggggg!! And wowie does that brown rice sushi look YUM-O! I’m hoping my mama will take me out for Japanese while she’s in town : ) .
I was always curious about those crackers too, so thanks for the feedback!
Haha sweet potatoes are sooo good! So glad you bought them, and I’m so impressed by your fish! I am always so so intimidated to cook my own!!
Take care lady!!!!! Hope your Sunday has been fabulous!
you’re mocking me with those potato eggs arent you?
Im having that exact same thing for dinner tonight. it probably wont look as good, but ill enjoy it nonetheless.

eatingbirdfood ~ Sweet potatoes = good any time of the year, in my humble opinion 😉
Andrea ~ Thanks so much for the link! I will definitely check that out next time 🙂
MizFit ~ Haha, thanks for making me smile! 🙂
VeggieGirl ~ I thought of you when I was buying it, and couldn’t wait to show ya!
Aimee ~ My thoughts exactly – soy sauce can be so salty!
Melissa ~ Oh how I dread the sleep/work cycle. I hope you get some shut-eye too – let’s TRY to anyway, haha 🙂
iameatingtolive ~ I love the name of the crackers, too 🙂
Kristie ~ Definitely give it a try. It brought a whole new flavor to the sushi!
Foodie ~ Me too! 🙂
Katie ~ Great question! I do ask for it to be cooked in cooking spray, and while it certainly does end up looking like there’s a little leftover oil, I figure that’s the price paid for not making it myself – so I try not to worry about it too much 🙂 But yes, egg whites + cooking spray is the best way to ensure you’re having it the healthier way!
Em ~ I always love reading your comments. I hope your Sunday was fabulous as welll! 🙂
Kelly T ~ Haha, you caught me 😉 I’m sure your dinner looked just as good/weird.
I love those Mary’s gone Crackers!!! I have a few in my lunch box right now and after seeing your post they are calling my name to be eaten now instead of at lunch. And fabulous looking sushi!!

I love adding stuff to cereal or mixing it! Great combo you have got going – trail mix with cereal is a smart idea!
You could try laughing cow cheese wedges too on those crackers! I want to try them, as I have never seen them before!
