Thanks for all of the sweet comments on my last post. My Portion is definitely one of my favorite segments because it not only gives me the chance to exercise my love for writing, but also gives you the chance to give your two cents on the subject – I really enjoy reading what all of you have to say!
5 New Things…
First of all, speaking of those ancient nude Olympics…
That picture sure does beg the question, doesn’t it? 😉 They really got out this new issue fast! Quite the impressive turnaround!! And of course I highly recommend you all pick up a copy!
Continuing on the Olympics theme…look at the torch I made in the microwave!
I made this gigantic mass of liquid eggs entirely on accident. I guess that’s what happens when you add a little more to the bowl than usual 🙂 But then I realized what it resembled and I obviously had to get a picture!!
Onto number three! Hm, let’s see how far we can stretch that Olympic theme…today I tried a new “energy” bar that I’m sure some athletes use to refuel or as a treat with their intense training regimens.
Larabar Jocalat! I decided to go with the plain chocolate flavor at first to ease myself into the extra rich flavor that a bar like this provides. Here is the description from the company site:
“As indulgent as a fudge brownie. The richness comes from pure organic chocolate and luscious cashews – the satisfying crunch from almonds, walnuts, and whole cacao beans. Other benefits: 5 grams of natural fiber, more than 20% of the recommended daily value, as well as the almonds 3 grams of Omega 6 essential fatty acids. Dates contribute to the 13 essential vitamins and minerals, and cashews are rich in iron, zinc and B vitamins. Who knew a brownie could be so good for you?”
They weren’t joking – this bar is super rich!! You have to be a seriously chocolate lover to make a dent in this one – fortunately, I am 🙂 I really enjoyed the way the chocolate, cacao and dates combined to create a unique flavor – very sweet, but with that chocolate-y smoothness I just love. I’ve bought a few of the other new Jocolat flavors, so I can’t wait to try those, too!
Moving right along to number four, I found this article about what the anchors and athletes eat on the set of the TODAY show in Beijing. I thought it was something us foodies would be interested in 🙂 Apparently Frappucinos and Powerades go very quickly!
And the fifth and final new thing is that I have ONE. DAY. LEFT. at my internship! I feel like I’ve been in an Olympic marathon that has lasted all summer (OK – this last one was REALLY a bit of a stretch…bear with me). But seriously, I’m having mixed emotions because I’m looking forward to a month of relaxation, but I’m also going to really miss the people and projects that I’ve been working with! Ah, bittersweet symphony that’s life.
TGIF everyone!! “See” you again soon!
omg…that picture…i have to go back to target to pick up that copy!!!
and i’m glad you enjoyed that jocolat bar…it didn’t do much for me unfortunately….tasted too much like RAW RAW RAW chocolate…bleck.
have a great friday and last day of your internship! how exciting! now it’s time for some great relaxation!! Anything fun planned?

Erica ~ Thanks, chica! Have a great weekend!
I liked the article however I don’t think it’s very accurate. It claims that Michael Phelps came in to charge his phone and “He also changed his clothes, but I looked the other way.”
Please.
_______________
Sarah ~ HAHA!! Sooo true 🙂
MICHAEL PHELPS!!!!!!!!!! **swoons** Oh and remind me to tell you about a photograph I recently saw of him, in a magazine – it was really graphic, haha.
Attack of the eggs!! 😀
I’m not surprised about that Jocalat bar – I told you just how dense and rich that Chocolate Hazelnut Jocalat bar was, haha!! I’ll take my Larabars, thank you 😉
Enjoy your LAST DAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Whoo hoo!!!!! Celebrate!!!! 😀
That article IS interesting – especially for a foodie, hehe.

_______________
All Vegged Out ~ Haha you are so wise 🙂
Those eggs are hysterical — really like a souffle. I’ve always wanted to try some in the microwave but have been intimidated.
And I have got to buy a Jocalat this weekend. I always see them next to the Larabars at the store, but have been intimidated. I love coffee and I love chocolate so this might be a good jumpstart to my gym mornings!
Have a great weekend!
_______________
Quinn ~ It tasted like a souffle! And definitely try the Jocolat!

Haha when I first saw that picture, I thought he was wearing a DRESS! 😛
The egg torch is too funny XD How much did you add to get that?!
Hahaha “He also changed his clothes, but I looked the other way” XD
What an interesting article! I guess this gives me permission to drink ten frappicinos a day without feeling guilty!
Enjoy your last day of work!
_______________
oatmeal ~ Ha! It does look like a dress! I put in like 3 or 4 eggs or something, instead of the usual 2 🙂

caitlin (see bride run) ~ Thank you!
Ohh my gosh that “torch” is too much… I am not sure if i like the jocolat bars… I am not much of a chocolate lover so maybe that is why !

I had them the other day for the first time, and I liked them quite a bit.
_______________
Karla ~ Thank you! And NO I have not tried those but they look amazing! I’ve tried similar crisps before, I’ll have to look for these! Where did you find them??
P.S. I will reply soon! It’s been a crazy day!
UM! So glad that I stumbled on your blog. I will be RUSHING to the store tomorrow to pick up that cover. Believe me it will be on my bulletin board above my desk, maybe Ill scan it to get more copies of it. I have been madly in love with Phelps for quite some time now, and all his new more fame is making me craaaazy happy. Oh my. haha

Foodie ~ Haha, thank you! I hope you like the Jocolat!
The rice crisps are good–I at least like the sun dried tomato ones! I found them at Hy-Vee, which is probably not around in Chicago (I live right next to the IA/IL border). I bet they are at other grocery stores now or soon though.
No problem about responding 🙂 No hurry, I totally understand!
_______________
Karla ~ Mm the sun dried tomato flavor sounds awesome. I’m going to have to check the site out again to see where they are located!
