I know you should never judge a book by its cover, and the same should be said for restaurants. That said, I’m guilty of both. So it came as no surprise that when the opportunity to try Slurping Turtle came my way, I couldn’t say no. The name, the logo…how could I resist?
Slurping Turtle strives to create “the essence of Japanese comfort food.” Jill, our friend Lauren and I met there for lunch yesterday and were greeted with a variety of menu options: sashimi, dumplings, hot tapas, noodles and a unique “bento” offering that combined several different menu options into the traditional box-shaped container.
Lauren decided to go with the latter, while I went for a noodle dish: Tofu and Mushrooms.
Jill tried a variety of small plates, including some delicious looking asparagus. My noodle dish was fantastic! The portion size was huge, and I could only make a dent in it before I took the rest home for leftovers. It consisted of broth and egg-free noodles with bamboo shoots, organic tofu and seasonal mushrooms. If you are a mushroom lover like me, I would highly recommend it.
We had a great time chatting and enjoyed the food immensely. Guess this time the creative name did indeed fit the food that was served. I love when it works out that way. 🙂
In other news, I’ve decided that I will definitely be participating in #MarchPhotoADay!
I was so happy to hear that many of you are joining in (hurray Sam, Caroline, Karla, Lindsay and Shannon!) on Fat Mum Slim’s challenge. This time, I will be posting photos to Facebook, Twitter and Instagram (I’m @jennkrenn) daily, and will share the photos on the blog in a weekly round up.
Let me know if you’ll also be doing the challenge so I can be sure to follow you!
What’s the most creative name for a restaurant you’ve ever heard?
Abrazos,
Thanks so much for the shout-out and the photo inspiration, Jenn! Still trying to decide the best place to post. Instagram? Facebook? Twitter? Pinterest? I’ll decide soon enough. 🙂 A weekly blog round-up is a genius idea.
This looks like such a fun restaurant date! Good food, good company…sounds like a winner!
You post wherever you wish, my dear – I think you should definitely do a weekly blog round-up, too! 🙂
Those noodles look SO good! I’m in love with mushrooms. I’m doing the Photo a Day for the first time this month, I’m excited! @lawfullyww on twitter 🙂

As for creative restaurant names, there’s a chain here in the South called the Flying Biscuit–they have really cute and colorful decor, so it’s always a fun place to eat.
I love the name “Flying Biscuit!” It sounds right up my alley. 🙂
I’m doing the march challenge too! I loved February’s
The cutest name I’ve heard is the peddlers daughter (but I’ve never been there so I can’t tell you if it’s any good)
