Baby {Girl} Fever!

I am about to be surrounded by four new females in my family – and I could not be more excited!

No, the bear does not count as one of said females. She is just a bonus. πŸ™‚

Both of my new sisters-in-law are pregnant with girls (one is having twins!) who are due in May and June. My cousin Lisa, who I’ve mentioned several times on this blog, is also having a baby girl, due in seven weeks!

We celebrated Lisa and future Baby Girl (she won’t reveal the name!) in St. Louis this weekend.

The new mom to be had a tiara and sash in honor of the occasion – a shower at Miss Aimee B’s. My mom, aunt and I also put together favor bags, filled with baby-themed candy, a building block notepad and pink pen, then fastened with ribbon and a pink bear bookmark.

My other aunt (who also is the grandma to be!) picked up these amazing balloons.

Adorable, right? Once everyone had arrived – a small group mix of our immediate family and a few of Lisa’s close friends – we were given a selection of menu options and asked to choose something from each category: entrΓ©e, soup or salad, and dessert!

After asking the waitress for her suggestions, I went with the baked chicken salad pie and the soup of the day, baked potato, as my first two choices.

The soup was touted as one of their best offerings and it certainly did not disappoint! It wasn’t ridiculously creamy and had a good balance of cheese with plenty of hearty potatoes.

The baked chicken salad pie was out-of-this-world GOOD! There was an intense mustard flavor in it, which I loved, and the veggies combined with chicken and a flaky crust was heavenly. I gobbled this part of the meal down rather quickly.

While we waited for the food, we started in on a few of the shower games. There was baby lotto:

Then there was the diaper game, where the lady with the “poopy diaper sticker” wins. We decided to play with stickers instead of mushed up candy bars since we were at lunch. πŸ˜‰

Winners could choose from an assortment of prizes. Then before we knew it, dessert was served! I chose the Mooncake, which was compared to an eclair by our servers.

It was absolutely bursting with rich flavor! I couldn’t resist taking a picture of one of the bites.

Just looking at that makes me drool. I had about half of the cake and saved the rest for later. My aunt and grandma tried the Tres Leches Cake and Queen’s Chocolate Cake, respectively, which they said were equally wonderful.

Once everyone had filled their bellies with delectable desserts, it was time to open the presents!

The mom to be received some incredible gifts! A stroller, diapers, outfits – and everything in between. Lisa and her husband David are definitely well prepared for when Baby Girl arrives.

Our time was over way too soon, but we were glad everyone could make it. We had a lot of fun!

Can you spot me in the maze of women? πŸ™‚

I had a fantastic time in St. Louis visiting family. Now I am in Arizona, where I am hanging out with the “Bender” crew for the week. I’ll be working while here but also enjoying the sunshine every chance I get!

Last but not least thank you so much for the sweet comments on our wedding reception. I’m glad you all found the post as enjoyable as it was for me to write. It was certainly an emotional one for me!

What are you looking forward to most this week?

Abrazos,
