That’s a Wrap!

Last weekend, I picked up a gigantic case of Flatout Bread at Costco. If you’ve ever shopped wholesale bread at Costco before, you know that good things come in large quantities ๐Ÿ™‚ {Isn’t the opposite usually the case?!} I’ve mentioned Flatout Bread on the blog a few times before — it has an elusive quality about it and can sometimes be hard to find.

This was just one of three cases that comes in a Costco-sized version!

The point of my little story here is that since picking up said wraps at the store, I’ve been on a mission. What started out as a way to hold together sandwich components quickly became a question of, “how may different wraps can I make?” I was determined to create one for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

And so I share with you, my friends, the result of my experiments ๐Ÿ™‚

Breakfast Wrap

I love my eggs + spinach combo in the morning, especially after working out. Usually I eat it with toast, but obviously that wouldn’t really work for experimentation purposes! I combined the following:

  • 1 Flatout wrap
  • 2 scrambled egg whites
  • 1 scrambled egg
  • 1/2 cup cooked spinach
  • 2 tbsp. fat-free feta cheese

Everything held together nicely and the cheese blended perfectly with the warm eggs + spinach.

After giving it your all at work or in class or at the gym all morning {I think that I would probably not last all morning at the gym, though…unless I was extra dedicated}, it’s time to wrap it up for lunch!

Lunch Wrap

The best part about all of the wraps is that they take no time at all. Simply stuff, slice and enjoy ๐Ÿ™‚ This one had some of my all-time favorite sandwich components:

  • 1 Flatout wrap
  • 1 oz. smoked turkey breast
  • 1/2 cup spinach
  • 2 tbsp. Greek hummus (with kalamata olives)

The hummus is a great “sticky” component that allows the uncooked spinach to bond to the wrap better. This makes it that much more likely that nothing will fall out the other side when you’re eating!

As the day progresses, you may do some more work, have another class or head to the gym {if it’s your second time there, I commend you…and wonder what you are training for!}. Really, I’m only kidding — you can do whatever you want ๐Ÿ˜‰ My point is to transition you from lunch mode to dinner mode, though really with this next wrap, you could eat it anytime!

Breakfast-Lunch-or-Dinner Wrap

What exactly is that? Just a little slice (or wrap) of heaven. It’s creamy, crunchy, sweet and salty all in one perfect little bundle. My absolute favorite concoction of all:

  • 1 Flatout wrap
  • 2 tbsp. chunky peanut butter
  • 1 tbsp. mixed berry conserve
  • 1 medium sliced banana

You really can’t go wrong with PBB&J. Especially when it’s in a wrap. It’s much easier to eat and there is less chance of getting peanut butter all over your fingers — though that’s not necessarily bad, either.

By far my favorite of the bunch. You could really eat any of these wraps at any point of the day, which is why I’m such a fan {if you couldn’t tell by now}!

Are you a fan of wraps? If so, what’s your favorite brand? What’s your winning recipe?

I’d love to hear about your most fabulous combinations! But I can’t promise that I won’t end up going completely wrap crazy on you again ๐Ÿ™‚ Happy Tuesday, everyone!

Abrazos,

  1. I love Flat Outs! I also really like La Tortilla Factory tortillas – but they aren’t the same as wraps. ๐Ÿ™‚ That last one with the bananas, pb and preserves just looks fabulous!

  2. I really like the Flat Out wraps (I have found them at Walmart and Cub Foods here in MN) and I adore making baked burrito things with brown rice, veggies, appropriate spices and some cheese and salsa on top…I bake everything it seems and they get yummy like a tortilla but healthier! Your breakfast wrap makes me seriously crave some hard core eggs right now!

  3. I love La Tortilla’s. Flat Out’s are great as well.

My favorite savory wrap would be hummus, black beans, roasted veggies and feta cheese.

  4. Isn’t Costco the best? I always see the FlatOut wraps at my Costco, but for some reason I always go for the La Tortilla ones. I like making wraps with tons of veggies, avocado, and a bit of dressing. It’s like a portable salad that you can eat on the go! I make PB&B wraps all the time too. ๐Ÿ™‚

  5. I like wraps but have no favourites as I don’t buy bread/wrap products that often. And I’ve been in Costco once in my life. It’s about 45 minutes away and just never thought I’d make use of the membership.

  6. Awww those flatouts need to make their way to my Costco! Pretty please ๐Ÿ˜€ I love those wraps. I also like La Tortillas and the whole wheat wraps made with olive oil from TJs (yes I swear that’s the name of them! lol). I usually just use them for sandwiches or fajitas. Or quesadillas. I also love to do a hummus, BBQ sauce, and falafel/veggie burger mix then grill it on a George Foreman. YUM. Or brie cheese + BBQ sauce + any type of filling. That was amazing.

  7. I really like Flat Out wraps. I also really like the giant bags of whole wheat wraps that they sell at Sam’s Club. They’re full of fiber and very filling. My favorite wrap combo is Laughing Cow Light cheese, sliced tomatoes, spinach and turkey.

  8. oh gosh, that last wrap looks AMAZING! i’ve never tried to put my PBB&J in a wrap before – genius!! i also love putting eggs in wraps, and melty cheese + egg is just soothing to the soul. warm wraps are just as awesome as cold ones!

my favorite wrap (as you know from twitter already) is flatout too! i don’t think i’d buy it from costco because i can’t eat it up that fast, but my local grocery store carries them, so i have no problem finding them.

my favorite wrap combo is currently 1 flatout, 1/2 laughing cow wedge, chopped up cucumbers, mushrooms, and bell pepper, and baby spinach!

  9. Hello my dear! You are queen of wraps! Seriously. I’ve seen the multi packs at costco, but I haven’t gotten them because flat outs don’t seem to fill me up! (ahh what’s wrong with me?!?!) I LOVE that last banana pb one, i’d totally throw it on my george forman to give it some battle wounds. YUM YUM. ๐Ÿ™‚

Ps. I was SOOOO nice to finally meet Bobby!!! ๐Ÿ™‚

  10. wraps are fabulous! And I love that you did a day of them!! PB & banana should totally get hitched- they’re so perfect together ๐Ÿ™‚ I like wraps but usually use tortillas (whole wheat) when I make mine! I like the flat outs too but Josh isn’t as big of a fan. How are you? Hows the wedding planning coming? When do we get to see more details ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚

  11. I am a HUGE fan of Flat Out Wraps – I love the way they hold everything together when others fall apart. And the breakfast egg wraps? I mean, you really can’t do wrong.

I’m also super excited about you letting on that you can buy them in bulk at Costco. Think I know where I’m going for my errands this weekend….

  12. always been a fan of the flat out wrap. my meijer will carry it occasionally. I go for the flat out wrap with high protein and fiber at 100cal per wrap. the ones im usingnow are 120 cal but still yummy.

  13. I’ve never tried FlatOut wraps, but always see people around blogland making Flatout pizzas which always look so good! I haven’t made a sandwich wrap in a while, but tuna fish and cucumber sandwich wraps are good, as are turkey and cheese sandwich wraps with strawberry jam. Another great combo is a turkey wrap with cranberry sauce and stuffing/dressing! Also, sandwich wraps/tortillas are great for making quesadillas!

  14. totally love the flat out wraps, esp the honey wheat ones…they’re my favorite as of right now. and i love the pb and j and banana wrap. tastyyyyyyyy.

  15. Flat-Out wraps are definitely my favorite! So sturdy, and are great with many different combos. The Multigrain are my favorite variety, but have you tried the Sun-Dried Tomato? Great too!

My favorite wrap combination is definitely an egg wrap: scrambled (microwaved) eggs, spinach, laughing cow cheese, ketchup, and usually a few slices of tomato. Only flat-out wraps can hold all of that together ๐Ÿ˜‰

  16. I love buying those at Costco because they freeze well. I was actually at Costco today and was debating between those and Arnold Thins. I went with the Arnolds.

  17. I’ve heard of Flat Outs, but I’ve never see these elusive wraps in person! You didn’t get tired of haring them 3 times in a day?? ๐Ÿ˜‰ I’ve eaten a lot of the Joseph’s wraps – I think I’ll have to try your 3rd wrap combo with those – yum!

  18. Love the wrap action. All of them look heavenly ๐Ÿ™‚ I used to be a wrap person though since the whole allergy issue not so much any more. Though do make some raw wraps ๐Ÿ˜‰

  19. Wow! Great lookin’ wraps! That breakfast one looks amazing! Great ideas… I underuse wraps as a meal…

  20. Ive really missed your blog!!

Congrats on the wedding (and it being so close) the blogaversary and your business!!

I really liked this post on wrap – I typically dont eat wraps just because I get picky about them for whatever reason, but that breakfast wrap definitely looks like something I would love to make!

  21. Mmmm Trader Joe’s sells my favorite wraps! They are whole wheat and have whole flax seeds in them…so yum!

My favorite wrap combo…spinach, avocado, swiss cheese, hummus, pickles, tomatoes, mustard and hot sauce. Needless to say, I wind up eating this with a fork and knife because this wrap does not stay wrapped!

  22. Jeez Louise!
I need to try this stuff ASAP!
Do you have any idea of where can I find it in Brazil?!
    Hahahahaha.
All the wraps looked sooo good!
    ๐Ÿ˜€
    Have a great weekend, girl!
    Brazilian XOXOยดs,

  23. i was waiting for … and that’s a wrap! ha. i kill myself ๐Ÿ™‚ i do like wraps, i think more than bread, but i always stuff too much in ๐Ÿ˜‰ looks like you got it down pat, and i’m eyeing the eggs and spinach!

  24. I actually just made wraps the past two days, with the exact same ingredients – mostly because the first time it was so good. In a whole wheat tortilla, I put in deli ham, turkey, havarti chese, lettuce, dijon mustard, and wee bit of mayo, with lots of cracked black pepper ๐Ÿ˜€ Delicious!

  25. i’m actually not really a fan of flat out wraps. i think maybe i like them a little doughier? My FAV are the whole wheat hand tossed wraps from Trader Joes. By far my favorite!

  26. I love the light version, they are SO tasty! I wish they were clean, but I could be eating something worse.

I have made the pb & j one before, but I also add sliced strawberries and two tbsp of Kashi Go Lean for crunch.
